After years of working with watercolours I stumbled upon the technique of drypoint etching. I found I could combine planning and spontaneity in its execution. As I am very fond of drawing I found  drypoint an ideal means to continue to use the sketch along with a varied colour palette. The brilliance of the etching ink makes the mixing and matching of hues exciting. There is this element of nervous anticipation on the outcome of the print. I look for inspiration in the environment I grew in, its colours, textures, its people. – Usha Ramesh
